Tragic incident Tuesday afternoon in the Deutsch Brodersdorf district of Baden: a woman reportedly fell unconscious in an apartment there, a man rushed to help and called the emergency number. Rescuers immediately started resuscitation measures when the paramedics’ CO measuring device suddenly triggered an alarm…
It was a young man who noticed the fallen elderly lady. The rescue chain was immediately set in motion. The Ebreichsdorf Samaritan Association ambulance and the Christophorus 3 emergency medical helicopter arrived within a very short time.
The CO meter suddenly gave an alarm
Resuscitation measures were initiated when the CO monitor that the paramedics had attached to her backpack suddenly activated an alarm. The emergency doctor then ordered an immediate withdrawal from the building and the Deutsch Brodersdorf and Wampersdorf fire brigades were alerted.
Unconsciousness due to CO poisoning?
The unconscious woman and a man with walking difficulties in an adjacent room initially had to remain behind. The fire brigade was able to free the man from the building using heavy breathing apparatus. He was taken to hospital in Baden. However, all help came too late for the woman and she died on the spot. It is currently being determined whether the woman’s loss of consciousness is due to CO poisoning.
