Martin Winkler becomes the new chairman of the board of trustees of the Spanish Riding School. He will officially take office on Monday, the Ministry of Tourism announced. Minister of Tourism Elisabeth Köstinger is looking forward to working with Winkler.
Winkler replaces interim boss Ulrich Herzog. At the beginning of January of this year, he took over the position from Johann Marihart, who had made his position available at the time.
“Manager with body and soul”
Tourism Minister Elisabeth Köstinger is looking forward to working with Winkler and is full of praise for him. He is a “body and soul manager who is passionate about this new task and will do it superbly”.
At the same time, Köstinger thanked Herzog, “who, as interim chairman of the supervisory board, ensured that the supervisory board could act all the time.”
At the tourist office since 2001
Winkler, 40, has been working at Österreichische Verkehrsbüro AG since 2001. During this time, he held numerous management positions in the group and in group subsidiaries with a focus on finance, marketing and sales.
Investigating infidelity
The position of head of the driving school’s supervisory board became vacant at the beginning of January because the Vienna public prosecutor’s office had opened an investigation into infidelity against Marihart. He is said to have had one of his daughter’s Lipizzaner stallions ride at the expense of the court riding school.
