Police in East Tyrol are currently concerned about a collision: having to avoid a car crossing in the middle of the road, a German driver fell 15 meters over the adjacent embankment. His car overturned several times. The injured man was able to free himself from the wreckage and raise the alarm.
The accident happened Saturday afternoon, shortly after 4 p.m. According to the police, the 23-year-old German was driving on the Gailtalstrasse (B111) from Maria Luggau towards Untertilliach when a car suddenly came towards him in a bend to the right, partly in his lane.
The man wanted to avoid a collision
The German had to swerve to avoid a collision. “His wheels became stuck in the snow on the right side of the road, causing him to slide,” investigators said.
The car then skidded across the road and fell approximately 15 meters over the adjacent embankment. “The car rolled over several times and eventually ended up on its roof in a meadow,” said the driver.
The 23-year-old freed himself from the wreckage and called emergency services. After initial treatment, the injured person was taken by ambulance to the Lienz district hospital.
Search for unknown driver
The other driver continued driving. According to police, the previously unknown second party’s car was a dark-colored ‘Dacia’ with license plates with Hermagor’s initials ‘HE’. Advice to every police station.
