Based on the later statements before the congress, the United States issued the so -called “Caesar” law, on the basis of which Washington 2020 imposed sanctions against Assad, his wife Asma and dozens of supporters. In Germany, the Netherlands and France, the ‘Caesar’ photos were the basis for judgments in processes about murder and torture by the Syrian State.

USB stick unveiled the horror
After the start of the Syrian Civil War in 2011, he was instructed to “take photos of victims of detention,” he said. According to him, this was “old men, women and children who were arrested at security control points in Damascus and at Protestresorts”.

“They were imprisoned, tortured and killed in a brutal and systematic way, and their corpses were brought into the corpse halls in the army to take pictures and bring them to mass graves,” he said.

He only postponed the recognition of his service and escaped from the country because he “wanted to” collect “the greatest possible number of photos that document the crimes against humanity and to burden the Syrian government agencies”.

He published the photos on a USB stick from Syria. To cuddle the storage medium along the authorities, he sometimes hides it in his socks or a bread.
