The Basque Pensioners’ Movement collects more than 60,000 signatures in support of its demands

The Basque Pensioners’ Movement has already gathered more than 60,000 signatures in support of their claims and which, along with those of the rest of the state, will be handed over and registered in the Congress of Deputies in mid-October.

As the group noted in a statement, the fundraiser began two months ago in partnership with retiree platforms and movements from across the state.

One of the groups’ claims is: guarantee for 2022 and consecutive years purchasing power of pensionsthey revalue based on the increase in ‘real CPI’ Y make up for 3% loss of purchasing power pensions in 2021.

It is also claimed make sure there are no pensions below the poverty lineeliminating the gender gap in salaries and pensions and increasing the minimum pension until it is equal to the SMI, as well as guarantee decent, fair and adequate public pensions and the public nature of the pension system, which repeals the austerity measures of the 2011, 2013 and 2021 reforms.

The collection of signatures has been carried out in the capitals of Hegoalde and in more than 70 cities. So far they have a total of 60,726 signatures All of these signatures, along with the signatures collected elsewhere in the state, will be delivered and registered in the Congress of Deputies by mid-October.
