About 30 other people were injured in the accident about five kilometers south of the city of Uyuni, the police said. There are also two children among the fatalities. The two buses collided on a narrow street between the cities of Potosí and Oruro for an unknown cause.
Bus came on the opposite track
One of the two buses was on the way to Oruro, where a carnival festival was celebrated with tens of thousands of guests this weekend. According to the first knowledge of the police, a bus had suddenly changed with lane and was therefore on his way against the direction of the journey.
In one of the drivers who were seriously injured, there was suspicion that he was alcoholic. A blood sample was taken from the man.
About 1400 road deaths per year
