Shock in South Tyrol – Inventor of the Barefoot Shoes drops 300 meters in death

Date:

The inventor of bare foot shoes Robert Fliri described himself as the “child of the mountains”. But these were doomed to the 48-year-old when he himself went a walk in his home country. The experienced mountain climber lost it well on a steep ridge. The “Mango” billionaire Isak Andic was also the victim of a tragic walking accident.

The mountain athlete Robert Fliri crashed on Wednesday at an altitude of approximately 3400 meters. The local and experienced Fliri traveled near the Northern Schwemser tip in the upper Vinschgau when he lost his grip on a steep ridge and fell in the depth about 300 meters. He suffered such serious injuries that he died on the scene of the accident.

Third mountain accident in a few days
Other mountain athletes saw the crash and warned rescue workers immediately. The accident location of the 48-year-old should be a particularly rocky terrain, for which the rescue work was also difficult. Moreover, there was strong wind at the time of the rescue when the rescue staff brought from a helicopter to Fliri. The area in the Obervinschgau is considered challenging – on Tuesday there were two fatal mountain accidents on Tuesday.

The invention caused a sensation
Fliri, who came from the region, brought about a revolution in the recreational sports market with the invention of shoes barefoot. Already in 1999 he started developing and explained his motivation as follows: “I am a child of the mountains, worked like a lumberjack and spent a lot of time on the farm of my grandparents above nature in South Tyrol. I have always searched for close contact with nature and gradually started to go barefoot in the mountains.

To keep the feeling barefoot and to protect the feet against injuries at the same time, he developed shoes with individual departments for each toe. “The feeling looks very like barefoot – with extra protection against rough surfaces,” said Fliri.

The invention caused a worldwide stir: in 2007 the magazine “Time” chose the shoes for one of the best innovations of the year. In 2008, Fliri received the Italian creative prize and in 2009 his shoes were used for the first time at the New York Marathon.

“Mango” billionaire crashed in Spain
A well -known and experienced mountain athlete also fell dead during a walk in the Montserrat Mountains in Spain. The founder of the fashion company “Mango” Isak Andic and his eldest son crashed 150 meters in December on a well -offered hiking trail.

For the researchers it was initially a walking accident. Because his son Jonathan (43) said after the accident that he had passed and suddenly heard decreasing stones. When he turned around, he saw his father crashing.

Open questions: Son in the focus of the investigation
The walking trip should help to clean up the discrepancies between father and son, because the son is said to have driven almost after his takeover of the fashion group. Local Spanish media reported incorrect statements from the son – he would have said he had not taken any photos. This turned out to be wrong.

It is also doubtful that, according to the Spanish radio station “Cope”, the 72-year-old recently received death threats because he was a “defender of the state of Israel”. On the part of the researcher, the researcher is now being investigated whether the son has reportedly had complicity in the death of his father and reopens the accident procedure.

At Vodafone, the police asked the geolocalization of Andic’s mobile phones and his father to determine the exact position of the two at the time of the crash. She also wants to request geo-data from Google and photos from the day of the accident.
