Austria needs specialists and immigration. Because we can prevent the current economic challenges. But is immigration in the current form the solution?
Everyone who enters the country as an asylum seeker remains high in Vienna. The city offers living space, social benefits and support programs – but integration actually succeeds?
A central indicator for successful integration is the employment rate. While a total of 74.1 percent of the population works in Austria, this quota is only 68.5 percent for people with a migration background. For comparison: for people without a foreign background this is 76.6 percent and even more than 80 percent for immigrants from the EU countries before 2004. The soil is people from Afghanistan, Syria or Iraq. With 48 percent, only every second is in one employment relationship.
