Lignano Sabbiadoro, the popular North -Italian bath destination for Austrian holidaymakers, has announced clear measures to prevent excesses from preventing young visitors during the upcoming Pentecost weekend. From June 5 to June 9, the coastal city will introduce a number of restrictions to curb the party culture and to guarantee a quiet stay.
Mayor Laura Giorgi said that the sale of alcoholic beverages in bottles and cans will only take place on time in the future. Especially in Focus: the sale of certain times to prevent parties and excesses. The music is also kept in the bridle in the evenings-after midnight, loud sounds are over, except of course for concerts and DJ sets.
More order and less chaos
“We have learned from the experience of the past year and now implement targeted measures,” said Giorgi. In a meeting of the Commission for Security and Public Order, the planned changes were presented, which formed a clear course for more order and less chaos. The restaurants in Lignano are not open for more than 2 a.m. and the company must close at the latest at 1 o’clock. Another novelty: a bath ban applies to the beach from 8 p.m. The authorities go even further and make a ban on a balweur in the entire urban area.
Measures successful in the previous year
The mayor emphasized that such measures were successful in the previous year. “With the increased checks before and during the summer months we were able to give people with illegal intentions and tourists give a quiet and pleasant holiday experience,” said Giorgi.
Emergency service that is available around the clock
In addition to the security measures, the emergency service will be available to the clock around Easter at the weekend and from 1 May to ensure the health and good for guests. Medical help for tourists is also supported by specialized services. Reinforcement comes from German distribution police officers from South Tyrol and dog units from Trento and Carinthian officials who are supposed to ensure that everything is ordered.
In collaboration with the Austrian tourists, an information campaign is also launched that indicates the new provisions. More than 20,000 Austrian guests are expected at Pentecost in Lignano, and the city wants to improve the quality of life of residents and holidaymakers with the new rules and promote more sustainable tourism.
Citizens ripen to change
The measures were launched by a petition from the committee “Stop the neglect during the Pentecost celebrations”. In June last year, 1546 citizens of Lignano signed the petition, who urgently asked for change to get mass tourism under control.
“We want to continue to receive Lignano as an attractive and safe goal for all tourists,” said the mayor. But the power and alcohol abuse should also be a thing of the past in the future- even if the Austrian guests certainly wanted to enjoy some celebration in sunny Italy.
