A Viennese community apartment turned out to be fungal trap. Now the public prosecutor of a young family is involved.
It should be the start of a life together for the young Viennese – but in the summer of 2024 the fight against Windmühlen, which now reaches its preliminary peak for the program ‘Citizens’ Attorney.
But from the beginning: in the summer of 2024, Lara Hoyda, her partner and the seven -of -month -old daughter were assigned a community apartment in Währing. The construction from the 1950s has its charm, but the material has weaknesses. Already during the Tour it was noted that the bedroom window was damaged. It was exchanged – but all other windows remained.
“Ventilate several times a day”
And that is exactly where the problem started. “We ventilate several times a day, but that doesn’t help,” says Lara Hoyda. “The windows leak, the wood is rotten, the handles clamp, the paint peel. The outer wood is displayed on the defenseless weather and mold is constantly formed. A non -durable condition, especially in the nursery. When dark spots showed up on the walls, the family turned to Wiener’s life. The answer? No new windows. Instead, it was explained that the indoor climate was the fault – the residents would not really ventilate.
People’s lawyer: “Windows must be exchanged.”
Folklife lawyer Gaby Schwarz, however, contradicts: “First, the apartment was not transferred in a useful state. Secondly, the non -knocking windows are responsible for the poor indoor climate. Thirdly, fungus is dangerous for health, especially for a baby. The Supreme Court even confirms that outdoor windows fall into the obligation of the landlord to maintain – in this case Wiener Wonen. Schwarz demands consequences: “The inactivity of Wiener Wohnen is incomprehensible to me. The windows must be exchanged. Point!”
