All the help came too late for an 87-year-old who had driven through the tracks in Wiener Neudorf at Red and had overlooked a train set of the local railways of Vienna. The woman died on the scene of the accident.
The Railcar Guide had no chance on Friday morning to prevent the accident. Despite the emergency braking and acoustic signal, the train covered the cyclist, which ignored the red light of the signal system and overlooked the railway at the unlimited intersection.
The situation deteriorated quickly
First Aiders took care of the seriously injured woman, but the condition of the 87-year-old quickly deteriorated. The necessary resuscitation measures were not successful, it died on the scene of the accident. According to the police, identification was initially not possible because the woman had no documents with her. It was only through an indication display that the victim was identified in the course of the investigation as a pensioner from the Mödling district.
Train traffic was interrupted for approximately one and a half hours until 12 a.m. The Railcar guide and the approximately 20 passengers remained unharmed.
