Pilot Forgets Passport – Airplane has to turn around

Date:

An aircraft from United Airlines had to turn to China because one of the pilots did not have their passport with them. “It is pretty embarrassing,” a consultant from the airline criticized.

The faux pass was adopted on March 22. The Boeing 787-9 with the Identifier N35953 was en route from Los Angeles to Shanghai when she had to turn in the air after three hours. Instead of China, the Dreamliner eventually landed in San Francisco, where the crew members were exchanged and the frustrated passengers were received.

The reason to transfer the Pacific: a member of the cockpit crew was forgotten the passport, reports the Pyok Portal.

New flight landed in Shanghai with a delay of six hours
United Airlines said: “The pilot was not on board. We have assured a new crew that our customers will take their destination that evening. The customers received food vouchers and compensation.” The new flight eventually landed in Shanghai with a delay of approximately six hours.

Shukor Yusof, who advises airlines with his company Endau Analytics, rated hard on the United Incident: “It’s pretty embarrassing.” The error is “unacceptable” for a global airline. The incident shows “a lack of discipline”.

American pilots do not have to identify themselves
Pilots and stewardesses in the United States do not have to show their travel documents before departure, but only confirm that they have all the necessary documents, including a visa and health certificates this can only occur. Mutual control within the crew did not take place.

However, the crew members themselves are responsible for their access on international flights. That means: without a valid passport, the pilot would have arrested and deported in China – United Airlines also endangered a high fine.
