Savior are speechless – Germans swim barefoot in mountainous

Date:

The emergency services shake their heads: miserably equipped on Tuesday afternoon, four German youngsters stood up to Niederjoch (1600 m) above the Heitenwanger who saw Aussern in the Tyrolean. Two of them were then stuck in the descent in the dark – one was even barefoot (!) On the padless site.

The youngsters from the Berlin area between the ages of 17 and 19 had seen a trip to the Heitenwanger in the Tyroolean Ausserfern (Reutte District). In the Mountain Lake at an altitude of 1000 meters they initially bathed, after which the Kleine Berg -Savvy Berliners – probably spontaneously – wanted to climb a mountain.

So they got up from the northwestern bank of the approximately 600 vertical meter to Niederjoch. There is no climbing or walking path there.

Equipment is much to be desired
“They are probably slowly progressing,” says Andreas Strolz, head of the Bichlbach Mountain Rescue. The equipment also left a lot to be desired: the quartet only wore thin clothing and sneakers. The highlight: one of the boys was even barefoot!

“They are probably over the field due to the rocky, steep terrain,” says Strolz. Two of the four young people soon became too delicate. They decided to turn around and tried to convince the other two colleagues. “Of course they wanted to continue,” says Strolz.

In fact, the remaining duo reached the top – including the bare feet walker. The descent went thoroughly later.

Loud calls in the dark
The boys (16 and 17) chose the direct, also padless route through a steep, rocky gutter with loose rock. “They could not get any further in a steep level and hold,” says Strolz. One of the two had crashed about 20 meters and injured himself.

Curious: the young people had a mobile phone with them, but the battery was empty. So they tried to communicate in the dark with their colleagues at the Lake Bank by calls for help. They raised the alarm around 9 p.m.

Even too dangerous for mountain rescues
The Bichlbach Mountain Rescue moved with five emergency services, the Ehrwald drone racky from the Mountain Rescue came support. “A mountain money tried to climb where we suspected the climbing people,” says Strolz. However, he had to give up after about 200 meters – the situation turned out to be delicate.

The emergency services heard the calls of the Germans for help, but had no direct contact. STROLZ: “Because the calls became weaker, we decided around 10.30 am to warn the medical emergency helicopter RK-2 van Reutte.”

Duo recovered with Lier
The crew was able to find the victims quickly – also thanks to the support of the drone relay. With De Lier, the Germans were eventually recovered from their perilous situation, RK-2 Pilot Christian Brunnlechner flew to the nearby Reutte hospital. The injuries were rather light because the young people were apparently able to leave the hospital again. According to Brunnlechner, they didn’t have a backpack when they fly away …

Boys blooms Juicy Bill
The high -swollen duo must now reach deep into the wallet: in addition to the costs for the Mountain Rescuers, a juicy invoice for the emergency helicopter also flutters into the house.
