They smell good, feel pleasant – and some still contain substances that are anything but calming. The Association for Consumer Information (VKI) has viewed 15 body spotions up close – with a surprising result: two products cut “very good”, six “good”, four only “average” – and the rest was negative due to doubtful ingredients.
All tested lotions retain the skin and donate moisture. But with some products so -driven “endocrine disruptors” clouded the image. These are chemicals that can work as hormones. “They are usually not acutely toxic. However, they are suspected of disturbing important development processes,” explains the VKI experts.

FETs in the womb, toddlers and adolescent, would react particularly sensitive. These substances are even associated with diseases such as infertility, certain types of cancer, diabetes and heart problems. “Some of these chemicals already have very small quantities,” the experts warn.
More allergy risks through scents
Striking: in the lotions with hormone -like substances there were often a relatively large number of allergy -retaining scents. This means not only a higher risk of sensitive skin, but also a clear downside in the evaluation.
The good news: there is another way – and cheap! The test winner was a self-fire product from a well-known drugstore chain, which is particularly cheap at just 0.49 euros per 100 milliliters. Quality does not have to be expensive.
A little downer: According to VKI, there is still a need for improving the packaging and doses – for example in the ratio between content and plastic.
