Dramatic accident in late Tuesday evening in Allenssteig in Lower Austria: during the international exercise “Trias25” a Swiss soldier was registered and seriously injured by an armored wheel vehicle from the Swiss army.
The accident had taken place around 11 p.m. According to the Directorate Lower Austria State Police, the 19-year-old had compacted in a sleeping bag when he was hit by the Wielpusser. This was checked by a 26-year-old that he should have overlooked the young man.
Right leg over
The vehicle rolled at a low pace over the right leg of the 19-year-old. The young soldier was seriously injured and transported by an emergency helicopter to St. Pölten University Hospital.
Military justice investigates the incident, said the Federal Ministry of Defense (VBS). The wounded return home as soon as the transport is possible.
Trinational exercise
“Trias25” in the military training area of Alleneig has been since April 14 and lasts until 9 May. 950 Swiss, 150 Germans and 200 Austrian soldiers participate in the trinational exercise.
