The rental prices have contributed considerably to high inflation in recent years. However, prices in the federal states are rising differently. Krone+ has looked at the average rents with which you can control your expenses. Do you pay too much to live?
Posters with the words “affordable life” have been dominating the election posters of many parties for years. The subject is hot, especially in the big cities in which a large part of the population lives in apartments. Statistics from the momentum institute show that the costs for life have recently increased more clearly than inflation. Although consumer prices have risen by 48 percent since 2010, rental prices for community apartments in the same period increased by 55 percent, for cooperative apartments by 56 percent and for private apartments by 80 percent. The rise in real estate prices was even more extreme. These have increased by 108 percent since 2010, although they have fallen somewhat back since the start of the Corona crisis.
