Fraud on internet-in e-mail attachments often underestimate that the danger is lurking

Date:

Online fraud is apparently the high season. Various Tyroleans recently fell on different stitches of criminals. However, the risk is often underestimated in simple e -mails.

The boss (29) of an established company in the Kufstein district lost almost 100,000 euros to an alleged seller who offered him various machines online. In Kitzbühel, a woman (53) entered her account details on a fake website. 25,000 euros were able to conquer strangers with an unsuspecting Tyrolean (55) who wanted to buy a car on a sales platform on the internet.

An Innsbrucker (40) bought test cards to meet an alleged celebrity. And a businessman (56) wanted to sell his off -road vehicle for 74,000 euros, but got the wrong one. After he received a fake transfer confirmation, the Tyroolean handed the expensive car to two pick -up in a hotel parking park in Scheffau. The car has now disappeared – the promised money has never arrived.

Despite warnings, many victims
And that is really only a small fragment from the scams on the internet that have been public in Tyrol in recent days. Despite repeated warnings, criminals can always pull the money out of their pocket.

23 percent of the HTML attachments are harmful
But the risk of being scammed lurks not only on different sales platforms, in dubious business models or other more or less well -known rip -offs. Even seemingly imperative and often underrated e -mails can still be dangerous. This is also known at Barracuda Networks, one of the leading cyber security companies in Innsbruck Worldwide.

“As a current study demonstrates, attackers still send harmful links and content in e -mail attachments to prevent detection via security tools,” explains the European chef Klaus Gheri. The so-called spammer mainly uses text-based HTML attachments to spread harmful files. A double -click in the browser is sufficient to perform malignant codes. According to the study, even 23 percent of all HTML attachments are harmful and therefore the most used file type used for attacks.
