“Has Borne Fruit” – Pope referred to paintings by Goghs in the audience

Date:

The Pope opened his first general public on Wednesday with a peace message. He also referred to the painting “The Sämann at Sunset” by Vincent van Gogh. “That seems like a picture of hope.”

“This photo of the sower in the scoring sun also talks about the hardships of the farmer. And it is noticeable for me that Van Gogh has already depicted the mature grain behind the Sämann (…). Somehow the seeds have worn fruit.” Not for love!

“Situation in Gaza Painful”
Leo XIV called the people to “disarm hearts”. He also thought of his predecessor Francis, who died exactly a month ago. The Argentinian pope held his last general public in the Vatican Public Hall on 12 February. However, he had his speech read by an employee. Two days later he was brought to the Gemelli clinic in Rome for more than five weeks because of a serious respiratory disease. On April 21, he died in his apartment in the Vatican at the age of 88.

Another subject of the first general public of the new pope was the situation in the middle. “The situation in Gaza is becoming increasingly worse and more painful. I am renewing my urgent attraction to help humanitarian aid worthy and to put an end to hostility, the shocking price of children, the elderly and sick.”

As reported, the government of Israel left the help for the civilian population in the Gaza Strip after a blockade on Monday. It accuses the prevailing Hamas to sell the goods to finance hunters and weapons.
