Scenes such as from Hitchcock’s horror classic “The Birds” took place on Monday at the Klagenfurt train station. Several passers -by were attacked by two crows (see video).
However, the reason for this was not an apocalyptic bird landscape, but the protective instinct of two fog crow parents. Her young animal jumped back and forth there, tried to fly in vain.
Caring passers -by -he was putting off the little crow off the street and were attacked by the parents in the collapse.
“Young crows must be left alone”
“This is really an extreme matter and because of the fact that people came close to the young bird. In this situation, the parent birds could not estimate that it was an auxiliary campaign,” explains Andreas Klewein of the Birdlife Association.
“The crow wants to prevent people from being preventive of the young bird. If a young crow can be seen, please leave it alone. It is fed by the parent birds and if you get too close, the attack can occur.”
Ravens are very intelligent animals
In addition to animal rescue, an attempt was made to contact the police – in vain. The young animal jumped back and forth between the pedestrian crossings and green areas – always under the eyes of the parents.
“The birds are extremely intelligent, they have an ego consciousness and can recognize themselves in the mirror. You could also prove this in pigeons,” says Klewein, further explaining: “At this time of the year there are also many other young birds moving. They try to fly and be in the bushes. We have it.”
Complex family life of the crow
When two crows are partnership, live monogamous. “They also have their own territory in which they do not allow another pair of crow. There are also ground bachelor groups consisting of individual raves and couples. These rush to throw and eat young birds from a nest of fellow species.
De Kleine Mist Kraai eventually fled in Bahnhofstrasse, where it held out under a parked car – her caring parents always stayed close.
