The discussion about Israel’s participation in the Eurovision Song Contest does not stop. As one of the many, the winner of Austria has argued to exclude the country from the competition. Now the brothers and sisters of two Hamas Geiseln turn to the opera singer with a video message.
In this they direct the 24-year-old. “Last week you used your platform as an artist to comment on a political subject,” said one of the family members in English. He wasn’t sure he knew JJ what he was talking about. “Music should bring people together instead of splitting them,” added another family member. A total of four brothers and sisters from the Hamas Geiseln Guy Gilboa-Dalal and Evyatar David turned to the Austrian.
As reported, the family members of the Israeli hostages made the singer an offer of discussions last week. The two hostages, who have been in Hamas’s violence for about 600 days, are 24 years old. “We believe that anyone who publicly deals with such topics must also be willing to listen to the voices of those whose lives have been destroyed,” says the first offer of talking.
Here you can see the video that is shared on social media:
“Unfortunately, pushes away”
JJ did not respond to this. Now the four hostage members have renewed their offer. “We are here in Vienna, so we invite you to meet each other,” says the video, which was distributed by Daniel Kapp, among other things, who, according to his own statement, volunteers for the Israeli families. Apparently JJ was willing to use his platforms and series for political messages, the family members had told Kapp. That is why the singer needs a “deeper understanding of the situation on the spot”. “Unfortunately he leaves,” said Kapp on the X.
JJ had said that Israel, like Russia, was an aggressor in a war and that he always convicted violence against civilians, but later announced that he does not want to comment on it. The ESC participant of Israel from ESC participant Yuval Raphael is a survivor of the Hamas massacre of 7 October 2023 at the Nova Music Festival.
