Accident on cruise – anchoring indicates, holidaymakers fall into the water

On Friday there was an accident with a cruise ship in South -Italy. The ship tore from his anchoring in the harbor – while the passengers went ashore. Two holidaymakers dived into the water in the accident.

The ship was in the port of Catania on the east coast of Sicily when the accident occurred, as the Italian media reported. Strong wind apparently had led to the anchoring on which the ship was set. The news portal reports today that the entire rope tore with which the ship was attached to the pier.

The accident happened on an extremely unfavorable time: the holidaymakers just went to land from the ship. A tourist couple fell into the water. Initially the woman fell into the harbor pelvis, her husband jumped behind her to save her.

The ship’s staff immediately hurried to the two tourists. Politicians and police officers on Jetskis and employees of the Coast Guard also came to the scene of the accident. A total of 118 emergency services were on site. The couple could finally be saved from the water. According to the information, both were only slightly injured and were aware.

The traces of the accident can still be seen on the pier. The ship “Crack” probably so much on the anchoring that the pier was damaged. The police are now trying to reconstruct the course to determine how this accident could occur.
