During construction work for the train station in Zell am See in Salzburg, a gas leak started on Tuesday morning. The Zell am See fire brigade was able to quickly repair the damage. The train connections in Zell were stopped for about 15 minutes.
A break in the main gas pipeline caused a stop in Zell am See on Tuesday morning. At around 7:21 am, the volunteer fire brigade from Zell/See had to go to the train station to secure the main line where the gas was escaping. The firefighters, together with Salzburg AG, were able to quickly remedy the defect.
Already at 8.10 am the twelve Floriani were ready. Salzburg AG is still on site to repair the line.
Commuters and travelers said “please wait” in the morning – train traffic at Zell am See train station came to a complete standstill for about 15 minutes. Trains on the Westbahn only ran as far as Bruck-Fusch. Excavation work is currently underway at Zell train station, but it is still unclear why the gas leaked from the pipeline.
