No more barbies that are just beautiful. American toy manufacturer Mattel continues to develop its dolls. The latest product line is all about women to inspire girls. A Barbie version of primate researcher Jane Goodall should not be missing.
The 88-year-old environmental researcher is delighted: “All my professional life I have wanted to inspire children to be curious and explore the world around them. Just like I did when I first traveled to Tanzania 62 years ago to observe gorillas.”
“Children need role models”
Matching the main character, the 29.2 centimeter high doll is made of recycled plastic. Appearance was probably based on the young Goodall. Mattel is excited about the partnership: “Kids need role models like Dr. Jane Goodall because imagining they can be anything is just the beginning – seeing it make a difference.”
