A German alpinist (74) was killed in an accident on his way to the Dremelspitze in Tyrol on Tuesday. When a stone came loose, the German was unable to keep upright and fell about 30 meters down steep terrain.
A German mountaineer (74) left the Hanauerhütte (Reutte district) towards Dremelspitze (Zams district) around 8.20 am on Tuesday, accompanied by a 22-year-old German. Along the way, two obstacles had to be climbed, the first of which was no problem. The second obstacle, however, was their downfall: In a gully, a rock broke loose while climbing about 100 meters below the Dremelspitze, and the 74-year-old couldn’t hold out any longer. He fell about 100 feet over steep terrain. The 74-year-old succumbed to his serious injuries at the scene of the accident and was flown into the valley by the crew of the police helicopter.
