In Styria – Sea Eagle with prepared Fuchs Aas poisoned

A sea eagle found in the styricic community of Unterlamm in the styricic community of Unterlamm next to a fox puppy was poisoned. According to Birdlife Austria, the pathological studies have confirmed this. The bird of prey since 2008 died of a pesticide forbidden in this country. Apparently the Fox -Puppy used to be shot as a prepared poison.

On May 7, a passer -by in the Cadastral Community of Unterlamm discovered an adult sea crew with a young fox in the catch. According to Birdlife, the bird of prey seemed seriously affected and did not show an escape instinct. His condition was so bad that he could be taken care of. Despite expert care, the animal died a short time later. The district administration of Southeast Styria has conducted research into the cause of death.

Violet granulate in the digestive tract
“In the context of the pathological analysis of the Research Institute for Wildlife and Ecology (Vetmeduni Vienna), Violet Granuate was found in the Eagle digestive tract. The toxicological analysis turned out: It is Carbofran. Kauberung,” said Birdlife.

Pesticide forbidden since 2008
According to a broadcast, Carbofuran is “a very dangerous pesticide, whose property has been forbidden in Austria since 2008”. Even the smallest quantities can be fatal for wild animals, pets and even people. Johannes Hohenegger, bird of prey in Birdlife Austria, spoke about a “particularly treacherous form of natural crime”. For Christina Wolf-Petre from WWF Austria, the incident is “a serious attack on the biodiversity of Styria. Such crimes should not remain without consequences.”
