“In the context of the pathological analysis of the Research Institute for Wildlife and Ecology (Vetmeduni Vienna), Violet Granuate was found in the Eagle digestive tract. The toxicological analysis turned out: It is Carbofran. Kauberung,” said Birdlife.
Pesticide forbidden since 2008
According to a broadcast, Carbofuran is “a very dangerous pesticide, whose property has been forbidden in Austria since 2008”. Even the smallest quantities can be fatal for wild animals, pets and even people. For Christina Wolf-Petre from WWF Austria, the incident is “a serious attack on the biodiversity of Styria. Such crimes should not remain without consequences.”
