Spring App – Start of the public locks without many incidents

Date:

S-Bahn and U4 Lock are in force. The “Kroon” has looked at how the Viennese lines have prepared and how well the replacement offers. Also: why the lock for Google Maps is sometimes invisible.

Human grapes collect on Monday morning for the Floridsdorf train station. They wait for the rail replacement traffic between Floridsdorf and Pratersern. Because this part of the main route is closed throughout the summer – we reported.

One SV905 goes after the other, but all people don’t fit in. “I have now waited for the first full bus golf,” says PhD student Michael. The lock is annoying, but the replacement works better than in the previous year.

Protected commuter
Change of location Pratersern. The ÖBB employee has a lot to do here, every few minutes of a bewildered command asks him why the S-Bahn does not go ahead. He refers to Subway and the replacement bus.

The Google Maps Route Planner has not adapted so well to the lock. Because although the metro is currently closed between the Scot Ring and Friedensbrücke, the route planning in the app still regularly shows connections. Screenshots prove: The U4 is offered as the fastest route, although replacement buses are driving and the railway stations are blocked.

The Viennese lines refer to the responsibility of the operators. A statement says: “The Viennese lines offer online schedules that the external applications can use to form their routing.” However, the import of this data into the respective app is not in the hands of the Viennese lines. In particular, this means: “The import and routes in the respective systems are performed by the user himself, this is not possible from the part of the Viennese lines.”

In clear language: the municipal transport companies provide the current blocking reports and information about the construction site, but when and whether they are actually displayed in apps such as Google Maps, the respective provider decides.

The Viennese lines therefore refer to their in -house app. A spokeswoman: “The most recent and reliable information can be found in our WienMobil app or on Wienmobil.at.”

Apropos U-Bahn:
The Green Barrier series continues here. This summer the U4 does not run between Scotch ring and Friedensbrücke. The majority of passengers have been informed, there are also praise for the Wiener-Linien employees who clarify Upper and Underground. The E4 replacement BIM comes at short intervals, there is also a solution between the D car. The Viennese lines themselves speak of a “flexible start”.

Adjustment after two to three days
To stay this way, the number of passengers and customer flows is continuously measured in order to make adjustments in the short term, according to the Viennese lines. The first few days are crucial.

“Experience has shown that it takes two to three days for changes in our passengers to have internalized a limitation, although these route changes are communicated very prominently,” said a spokeswoman. After a few days the change will take place well and the passengers had searched their personal alternative route.
