A step too much and that would have gone out badly: in the Danube in Upper Austria, an invisible nail trap lurk with a staircase that is often used by swimmers. There were hundreds of rusty iron pencils under water – a Mühlviertler -woman took out seven kilograms. There are probably more.
“Usually it is rather muddy and not spiky” – when Heidi Schöpp went into the water in the Danube in the Danube (municipality of Feldkirchen), she made a strange discovery: countless nails were in the water and therefore invisible at the levels.
More and more nails brought forward
“At first I thought they were mussels. When I went down, I had nails in my hand,” says the Mühlviertler. Time and again she reached in and gradually took seven kilos of metal pencils, which she filled in a bucket.
Background unclear
It is completely unclear who had emptied exactly when and above all why the nails were precisely emptied when you went to work with the Danube, which is often used by swimmers, but also by fishermen. In the “best” case, she only thrown someone away carelessly.
This dissertation speaks that the nails are not bent and are therefore not visible and unusable. However, they are probably in the water for a long time because they are partially rusty. However, if they have not been thrown into the water, the only option remains to be “prepared”.
