On Friday evening, a 79-year-old man was registered as a step in Scheifling (Styrian District of Murau). A big search started at night. On Saturday morning the sad certainty was: the man’s body was found in the Mur. The police are taking an accident.
On Friday around 10 p.m. the police in Scheifling were informed about the scene of a 79-year-old. Around 3 p.m. the man would have driven his car to the Murwaldweg and the vehicle there parked there.
Because he had left his cell phone at home, a search was started at night with the support of a police helicopter, search dogs, drones and various police patrols.
Found body in Mur
The search was initially not successful. On Saturday in the early morning the search was extensively led by the Alpine Police, and various fire brigades and the Mountain Rescue were involved.
Around 9 am the man was finally found lifeless in the Mur near a dike. The exact course of the accident is now being investigated and according to the police there are no references to external negligence.
