88% of the trips made by people living in the Basque Country have a destination other communities of the Spanish state and the most visited places are Cantabria, Catalonia, the Valencian Community and Castilla y León.
This is confirmed by the latest study EITB DATA: conducted on the tourism sector and based on data published by the National Institute in 2019, the year before the start of the pandemic.
84% of the trips are made in own car and 59% stay in second homeswhile 40% choose to stay in hotels.
The average stay in both cases is five days, but the daily cost per person varies depending on the accommodation: people staying in a second residence have an average cost of 23 euros per day versus 76 euros used by travelers going to hotels or similar.

Similarly, the report indicates that 12% of trips are made abroad and the most notable are destinations France, Portugal and Italy.
46% of trips abroad are made With the plane and 88% stay in hotels, where the average stay is about six days.
Average expenditure per person abroad rose to 127 euros per day in the case of staying in hotels or the like, and even the 54 euros if they stay in a house of family or friends.
