The accident happened Wednesday morning (local time) at a military training ground at Fort Gordon military base near the city of Augusta, US media reported unanimously, citing a spokeswoman.

The condition of the injured is unknown at this time. It’s also unclear whether the lightning struck anyone directly or otherwise caused injuries, the New York Times wrote. At the time of the impact, according to broadcaster CNN, a storm was moving through the area at a speed of about 72 kilometers per hour.
