An explosion took place at a refinery in the Czech city of Litvinov on Thursday evening. A fire then broke out, injuring four workers. The industrial accident happened during oil processing using hydrocracking, the Orlen Unipetrol company announced. The fire has now been almost completely extinguished.
All four injured were taken to a special clinic in Prague. One of the injured workers is in very bad condition. An investigation is underway into the cause of the accident. An excess of hydrocarbons was flared on site with safety burners in a controlled manner.
