A 74-year-old pensioner was run over by his tractor in his home town of Gänserndorf (Lower Austria) on Friday. He may have accidentally released the parking brake when getting out. The man was seriously injured and was flown directly with the rescue helicopter to the AUVA trauma center in Vienna.
According to the police, the man with the tractor and trailer was on his way to an acquaintance in Zistersdorf. However, not being home, the 74-year-old wanted to continue. Then the accident happened.
The pensioner slipped and fell to the ground when disembarking in Zistersdorf. When he tried to hold on, he probably inadvertently released the parking brake. The tractor then began to roll on the descending terrain and ran over the 74-year-old.
Was able to call the emergency services myself
The man suffered serious injuries, but managed to call emergency services himself. The emergency helicopter “Christophorus 9” was deployed, which took the seriously injured to hospital in Vienna.
