Traffic jams heading south: A multi-vehicle accident in the Kroislerwand tunnel (A10) caused the first long traffic jam in Austria shortly after 8 a.m. – more than ten kilometers and a waiting time of up to two hours. The situation for the Karawanken tunnel was similar: due to a technical problem, the A11 was closed for more than an hour – here too there was a ten kilometer traffic jam.
In Tyrol, drivers had to be patient on the Brenner Autobahn (A13) between Patsch and Schönberg. Also in sections on the Fernpass road (B179) between Biberwier and Nassereith.
“There is still a lot to come from the Munich area”
The ÖAMTC expects that the situation will only improve around 3 p.m.: “There is still a lot to come from the Munich area. North of Munich, however, the traffic flow is quite calm.”
In the morning hours, the Austrian roads were largely spared from avalanches. Only on the Tauernautobahn (A10) block handling still had to be imposed around 05.30 hours for the Ofenautunnel, but this was lifted two hours later.
There were only long delays at the Slovenian-Croatian border and on the ring road around Zagreb. There, a loss of time of about two hours had to be accepted.
