Bus overturned – nine injured in serious accident on Autobahn

Date:

Because he was speeding on a motorway exit, a nine-person minibus overturned on the A8 near Sattledt (Wels-Land district) on Tuesday. All passengers and the driver were injured in the accident.

At around 11:25 a.m., a 53-year-old Syrian national was driving a rented minibus occupied by eight other people aged 13 to 44, all Syrian nationals, on the A8 towards Suben. At kilometer 1, the driver drove via ramp 1 to the resting place Voralpenkreuz.

Send was too fast
But the driver was driving too fast. Due to the inappropriate driving speed, the minibus left the carriageway in a right-hand bend, collided with a concrete overburden of a roadway drain and came to a stop on the driver’s side. The driver, who was trapped in the vehicle, suffered a serious hand injury and was unable to get out of the vehicle under his own power. All other occupants sustained unspecified injuries.

Helpers avoid full tips
Emergency personnel held the vehicle by the roof edge on the passenger side to prevent the vehicle from overturning and further injuring the 53-year-old. An Asfinag crane truck, which happened to be on site, was then involved in the operation. The vehicle involved in the accident was fitted with a belt loop and stabilized with a crane. The seriously injured driver was eventually rescued through the cut windshield and taken to the Wels-Grieskirchen clinic.
