BBVA made a profit of € 3,001 million in the first half of the year, representing an annual increase of 59.3% in constant euros and 57% in current euros.
The interest margin reached EUR 8,551 million between January and June, representing an annual increase of 26.5%.
Profits are driven by the increased activity and the “good behavior” of the risk indicators. Activities abroad, especially in Mexico, Turkey and South America, also benefited the company’s profits.
It is not the only company to make a profit in the first half of the year. In the banking sector, Kutxabank increased its profits by 30% in the same period, while in the energy sector, Iberdrola, Enagás and Repsol achieved more profits than in the previous year.
