Older animal – wild camera photographed bear at Völkermarkt

Date:

Helmut Furian’s game camera captured an extraordinary snapshot. Not far from the Völkermarkt in Carinthia, she photographed a bear. In an interview with “Krone”, the fighter talks about the sensational shot and explains why Master Petz ran right in front of his camera.

At exactly 4:25 a.m. on Tuesday, Helmut Furian’s game camera took the sensational photo. The photo was taken about a kilometer from the district capital of Völkermarkt, in the municipality of St. Peter. “It’s something very special. The last sighting of a bear in this area was about 30 years ago,” says Helmut Furian, visibly pleased.

It is clear to the avid hunter that the bear has awakened from hibernation and is now looking for food. “Because the camera is in an area with a high deer run, the bear is hoping for something to eat,” said Furian, who believes Master Petz wintered in a cave in Diex.

“No danger to people”
“The animal poses no danger to humans,” Furian is convinced. Because the bear should have wandered further south. Furian: “He has probably already swum over the Drau and is migrating to Slovenia.”

Only last year, a Rosental hunter managed to photograph a young bear munching on raspberries.
