The tank was empty – the plane had to make an emergency landing on a meadow in Vorarlberg

Date:

Running out of fuel, a German pilot of a small plane had to make an emergency landing in a meadow in Eichenberg (Vorarlberg). The man brought the plane and himself to the ground unharmed.

Dumb run: A German pilot was flying from Friedrichshafen over Bregenz airspace at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening – in a light aircraft. Suddenly the engine of the machine started to sputter and finally gave up the ghost.

Pilot stayed in Eichenberg
The German was able to keep the plane in the air for a few more minutes before discovering an open meadow in Eichenberg. He wanted to make an emergency landing on it and he succeeded. Both the plane and he landed safely on the meadow. No one else was injured.

The pilot notified colleagues from his sports club, who came with fuel. After the plane was refueled, the engine started easily. However, the Austro Control no longer gave take-off permission on Monday evening, so that the aircraft and the pilot had to spend the night in Eichenberg.
