Hundreds of trees are currently being cut down and wild animals driven out for a “luxury project” in Pressbaum (Lower Austria). Outraged pensioners are therefore launching a signature campaign against the responsible Viennese private clinic. Incidentally, an 81-year-old is at the head of the protest!
Booming machine noise and groaning giant trees instead of soothing silence and beautiful birdsong – the situation in Sanatoriumstraße in Pressbaum, St. Pölten district, is perceived as catastrophic by residents and residents. The reason is a luxury construction project by the Wiener Privatklinik, which wants to build several flats in the area and apparently has little eye for people and nature. But the calculation was made without the argumentative seniors!
Around “nursing home rebel” Helga Bayer, the 81-year-old retired entrepreneur and eco-activist, the protest against the “uninvited guests” in the Vienna Woods is now forming: “I have lived in Pressbaum for 43 years and have been here in Nursing Home for two years. Above all, the beautiful greenery is good for the patients, but it is now being destroyed, but we are fighting against that,” Bayer emphasizes during the on-site inspection with the “crown”.
Together against deforestation
Together with residents, 160 signatures for a construction freeze have already been collected – and the aim is to put pressure on the community. For home visitor Elfriede Hartmann from Eichgraben a “fight for a just cause”: “They are culled without hesitation everywhere in the Vienna Woods. But many sick people also live here in Pressbaum, and you don’t have to enter with heavy machines in the middle of summer. to come,” said the supporter.
So the protest is gaining momentum!
