The fire brigade in Berlin has to deal with fires on a daily basis, as is now the case in Grunewald. While the water is there for extinguishing, the drinking water for the firefighters is now scarce and rationed.
As the “Bild” newspaper reported Monday, all fire stations are normally supplied with PET water bottles to be resupplied during operations. Now, however, there is no money for it.
“The budget title is currently exhausted, so no mineral water can be purchased at the moment,” the reasoning said. Therefore, a “moderate handling” was now requested.
Water dispenser installed
Some departments are now equipped with mineral water dispensers from water companies – a system that may be expanded even further, “Bild” went on to report. In any case, priority is given to those fire stations that have to be called out most often.
