While descending to the backpack depot, an Austrian fell on a mountain in Tyrol below the ridge. His companion had to witness the accident.
On Monday, a 66-year-old Austrian with an acquaintance climbed through the so-called “Gunggl”, municipality of Ginzling, to the north side of the “Ochsner” to look for minerals.
150 meter fall over rock
During the descent to the backpack depot, the man fell for a previously unknown cause at an altitude of about 2760 meters about 200 meters below the ridge and then fell about 150 meters over rock falls in the area of the “Ochsnerkees”.
Companion got a shock
The crew of the emergency medical helicopter, alarmed by the next companion, could only determine the man’s death. The companion, who was in shock, was then rescued with a rope by the crew of the emergency doctor helicopter and flown into the valley.
