According to media reports, former US President Donald Trump will testify under oath next Wednesday in a civil dispute over his company’s business practices in New York. Trump will meet behind closed doors with New York Attorney General Letitia James. It was still unclear what questions would be asked, it said.
As several US media outlets unanimously reported, it is also uncertain whether Trump will answer them at all. Democrat James has spent years leading civil investigations into the Republican corporate empire for potentially fraudulent business practices.
Misleading Financial Reports
According to James, Trump and the Trump Organization have used misleading financial reporting to gain economic advantage. It also concerns the suspicion that the former president’s company gave false information about the value of real estate. Trump’s company denies the allegations.
Trump not happy
Trump himself wrote on the platform Tuesday evening that he co-founded “Truth Social” that he would meet James “tomorrow to continue the greatest witch hunt in American history.” He gave no further details. Donald Trump is the last member of the family to be questioned, according to a Fox News report. His children Ivanka and Don Jr. have already testified.
After the death of Ivana Trump, the first wife of the former US president, the statements scheduled for July under oath of Donald Trump and their two children were initially postponed.
