Missing thermals – glider pilots had to land on a field in Leutasch

Date:

Dangerous moments for a 23-year-old glider pilot on Saturday in Leutasch in Tyrol (Innsbruck-Land district): Due to a lack of thermals, the young pilot was forced to land in a field. Fortunately, everything turned out okay in the end. The Frenchman was unharmed.

The weak thermals made it impossible for the Frenchman to reach Innsbruck airport, police said. The 23-year-old eventually landed his glider in an open field.

No people injured or threatened
“People were not injured or endangered, and there was no damage to property as a result of the outlanding. The pilot was also unharmed,” the investigators said.
