Date:

The third vice president and minister for the ecological transition takes part in the Colpisa talk to explain how Spain is facing the state of gas, electricity and the risks faced by businesses, consumers and the whole economy

The Minister for the Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, will face in the coming months all the challenges facing the Spanish economy in terms of energy, characterized by the volatility of prices and the challenge of guaranteeing supply in the worst months to come. . start of the war in Ukraine. It will do so at the most appropriate time within the current context, in the Conversation, the event commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Colpisa agency. It will be on Tuesday, November 8, from 7.30 pm in CaixaForum Madrid (Paseo del Prado, 36).

During the meeting, moderated by Colpisa economic journalist José María Camarero, it will serve to test the context in which the energy sector moves, protagonist during this year of economic news. The debate with the Third Vice-President raised issues such as energy price volatility during this year, the Iberian mechanism of the algae harvesting since its launch in June, the measures to try to contain the rise in energy costs from a fiscal point of view and regulations, as well as the state of the supply of raw materials such as gas, essential to cope with the coming winter months and with more adverse weather conditions.

The conversation with Ribera comes at a crucial time for the Spanish economy, which is well aware of all energy issues. For the time being, the gas supply is guaranteed thanks to the reserves built up in recent months and the situation in Spain with its regasification plants, a model not so widespread in the rest of the European Union. But Spain is no stranger to what its neighbors are experiencing in terms of energy, after a year in which prices reached record levels and had a significant impact on the budgets of businesses, SMEs and households.

The challenge of the ecological transition will also be one of the topics addressed during the event, which will take place in the middle of the new climate summit to be held in Egypt from this Sunday, in which Spain will play a key role thanks to its strength in renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar energy. The development of these green plants and the future of others, such as nuclear or combined cycles, will also have their place in the conversation.

Minister Teresa Ribera will address what awaits us in the coming months in a context of uncertainty and will give the keys to various contingencies for the government to consider, as well as scenarios of greater or lesser risk to face in the coming months. in which the commodity prices will continue to give much to talk about.
