There is one major change for Swiss Post customers. Parcels are now delivered automatically, so that the deliverer no longer rings the doorbell. However, the customer must first issue a parking permit.
Until now, the deliverers always called first. Only when no one was at home, the package was placed in an agreed place with the correct approval.
Message spokesman: ‘Wish of our customers’
Post spokesman Markus Leitgeb on orf.at: “That’s what our customers want. Especially if they have a parking permit, they no longer want our delivery drivers to disturb them. And yes, these are a few hits that our delivery drivers save themselves.”
Packages continue to be handed over personally without permission
If there is no parking permit, the post office will continue to ring and personally hand over the package or put a yellow note in the mailbox if no one is home.
Certain packages cannot be deposited
If there is still a yellow slip in the mailbox, the anger is often great, says Leitgeb: “There are certain packages that should not be deposited, for example very valuable packages.” Other parcel services such as DPD and GLS also offer parking permits.
