Spending is on the rise – those cashing in on Austria’s barbecue boom

Date:

A third of Austrians spend up to 100 euros on a weekend barbecue. Women prefer turkey and chicken, men prefer pork and beef – in general, vegetables are becoming more and more popular. Providers expect an additional boost in turnover from the European Football Championship that starts in mid-June.

Austrians are real barbecue fans. Every second Austrian turns on their grill two to five times a month. According to a current survey, 16 percent of domestic consumers do this up to ten times. Gas or coal – this question can lead to heated debates among grill masters. Both variants have advantages and there is therefore no perfect device for everyone. “We definitely feel a trend towards gas grilling,” reports Weber Grill boss Daniel Ipser.
