Searches were carried out on Tuesday at the former headquarters of Signa in Germany, in the Upper West high-rise in Berlin. The Berlin prosecutor’s office confirmed the raid to ‘Manager Magazin’, which first reported it.
Many details about the house search are not yet known. A spokesperson for the Public Prosecution Service tells ‘Manager Magazin’ that the reason for the house search was an initial suspicion of, among other things, a postponement of the bankruptcy.
The measure was intended to “find documents and data”. It remained unclear whether the Public Prosecution Service was targeting specific individuals or companies from the Signa Group.
Repeated attacks on Benko
Since the bankruptcy of several major Signa companies last fall, the group and founder René Benko have repeatedly been the victim of raids.
Just a few weeks ago, searches were carried out in Luxembourg in connection with allegations of asset transfers surrounding six luxury villas on Lake Garda.
Benko denies the accusations. The Soko Signa of the Federal Criminal Police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Economic Affairs and Corruption (WKStA) were also guests at his home in Tyrol and at various business locations in Vienna in the summer.
