Long delivery times – despite higher prices demand for pellets and oil

Date:

Despite the crowds of customers, the retailers assure that they will deliver to all households.

The situation on the energy market is tense – also outside of gas. As a result of the war, about 3.5 million tons of pellets are missing in Europe. Because many households have also switched and there is great uncertainty, demand is now “exploding”.

There are reassuring words from the industry. “The goods are currently available, but the large order volume and limited logistics capacities can lead to longer delivery times,” explains manager Oliver Eisenhöld (RWA/warehouse). RZ Pellets boss Otto Zechmeister also asks customers to be patient: “Everyone who calls us is also supplied. However, the current delivery dates are already in November.”

Prices may fall from 2023
The proPellets association recommends ordering only as many pellets as necessary and not “hoarding”. Prices should fall again in 2023 – also because new works are being added. The supply is also assured for the 600,000 households with heating oil, emphasizes Martin Reichard of the IWO Austria association. As many industrial and commercial companies are switching from gas to oil, Bernd Zierhut, head of the Doppler group (e.g. tower oil), recommends stocking up quickly. At the moment, however, longer delivery times are normal.

You also have to dig much deeper into the market. The prices of fuel oil and pellets have more than doubled compared to 2021.
