The reporter presents ‘Purgatorio’ at the Pedro Cano Foundation, his debut in the novel: “There are still 300 murders to be solved”, he recalls

Investigative journalist Jon Sistiaga (Irún, 1967), winner of two Ondas awards, made everyone enthusiastic on Thursday evening at the Pedro Cano Foundation as part of ‘Río de Letras’, organized by the municipal council of Blanca.

Sistiaga covered the background of his ‘first film’ ‘Purgatorio’ (Plaza & Janés), which he knows perfectly since he first encountered it: the ETA conflict in the Basque Country. The journalist defined his novel as “an uncomfortable book, because it raises hidden issues and raises a lot of doubt about many things that were considered immovable.” In this sense, Jon Sistiaga tells Basque society that “the conflict is not over yet, as there are still 300 murders to be solved, victims wonder why the terrorist group chose their relative and people who know where the answers lie.”

This literary work is the fruit of the boy who grew up in the Basque Country and the media professional who has experience in the use of force in many countries of the world, where he finds that there are common patterns in all armed conflicts.

Presented by Marta Ferrero, head of public radio programs for the Murcia region, Onda Regional, “‘Purgatorio’ is a commitment to ethical truth, not judicial truth,” said Sistiaga, who was widely acclaimed by more than 50 people who died. see him, including the mayor of Blanca, Pedro Luis Molina, and the painter Pedro Cano.
