El Batel is organizing a new series of concerts by the Symphony Orchestra of the Region of Murcia

The Symphony Orchestra of the Region of Murcia (OSRM) will offer its traditional subscription cycle at the El Batel Municipal Auditorium in Cartagena between January and June of next year. For these concerts, the orchestra has invited renowned musicians and conductors, including guitarist Pablo Sainz Villegas and baritone Lorquí José Antonio López. In addition to the chief conductor, Virginia Martínez from Molin, guest conductors will also perform.

The OSRM opens its concert cycle in Cartagena on January 20 with three compositions from the early 20th century. The first part is led by two Spanish authors, Joaquín Turina and Joaquín Rodrigo, and the second by the music of the composer Shostakovich. The recital features guitarist Pablo Sainz Villegas as guest soloist.

Sylvain Gasançon, who has quickly become an established conductor on the international stage, will also pass through the Cartagena auditorium. Under his direction, the OSRM will perform on March 5 with ‘Prelude to a faun’s nap’, ‘L’arlésienne, suite No. 2’ and ‘El pajaro de fuego’.

In addition, in this cycle of Cartagena you can listen to one of the essences of classical music, the ‘Ninth Symphony of Beethoven’. On May 21, the Murcia Symphony, the Spanish National Choir and great voices such as the soprano Berna Perles, the mezzo Cristina Faus, the tenor José Luis Sola and the baritone David Menéndez will perform this classic.

The fourth and final concert is with Gustav Mahler and his composition ‘La canción de la Tierra’ (June 4). A symphony through a cycle of six songs or songs for two vocal soloists and orchestra. In this concert the voices of the baritone José Antonio López and a tenor to be determined will be heard. The price for the complete cycle of four concerts is €30, but you can also buy tickets for just one of the events for €12.
