BBC Television Screenplay: BAFTA Awards 2022 – Kenneth Branagh wins Belfast

Belfast won Best British Film at this year’s BAFTAs.

The film, which is based on Kenneth Branagh’s childhood in trouble, won an award at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts on Sunday night in London.

The film was nominated for several other awards, including Best Picture, with co-stars Caitriona Balfe and Kieran Hind losing out for Best Supporting Actor and Best Actor.

Accepting the award, writer and director Kenneth Branagh said: “Thank you British viewers for seeing the enormity of British and Irish films in British and Irish cinemas.

“Everyone welcomes the broadcast revolution, but everyone appreciates the big screen too. Living and living together for a long time.

This is a black and white movie about problems. It wasn’t an easy playground, but when a big talent in this room dreams of shooting or financing something like that, remember, if you build it, they’ll come.

“Build it with passion and truth, believe in the authenticity and distinctiveness of your story and voice, and believe in the audience’s imagination to understand all kinds of well-told stories.

“We are proud to be in this year’s films; they are all exceptional. Thank you so much for being so kind to our films, we deeply appreciate it.”
